Why Did We Create the Master Coach Alliance?
The idea of the Master Coach Alliance was conceived in
August 2004 by Charlie Lang during a 3-week trip to Europe.
It was a combined vacation and business trip which had been
planned for quite some time. A couple of weeks before the
trip, he received two inquiries for urgent coach training
workshops. Since the trip schedule was fixed and both clients
could not wait until Charlie returned from Europe, he felt
it to be his duty to find an adequate replacement. He eventually
found Vivien Pau, whom he knew from the Hong Kong Coaching
Community, [link] to take over his part.
Even before that event, Charlie was asked a number of times
to coach in areas which he felt were not really his field
of expertise. In such cases he also checked his contacts
to see whether he could recommend a more suitable coach.
However, he was always a bit wary of doing so because if
the recommendation did not work out well for the prospect,
it could reflect negatively on him.
Hence the idea of a more formal alliance among coaches
who trust each other and who have a proven professional
background. Charlie contacted the members-to-be and received
a very positive feedback since such an alliance provides
benefits for both the clients and the coaches.
When they looked at each others profiles and special focus,
they realized that there are great synergies potentials
among them which could be developed to the benefit of MCA
clients.
